A spring salute to the Cherry Blossom viewing in Japan, the hanami party can be whatever your chapter decides. Chapters report hosting picnics, potlucks, and other outdoor events whether or not there are any actual cherry trees to be viewed in the area.

Time / Location to hold event

Typically held on a weekend day during March or April. Let your area's weather be the guide. Spring in the southeast is arts festival season and JETAASE's past hanami parties have been held during the weekend of the Atlanta Dogwood Festival. A camping or hiking excursion would be another fun event to host during hanami season.

This is a good event to hold during the day, perhaps a Sunday afternoon. Outdoor hanami parties are also perfect family events. If your chapter is anticipating that several people will bring children, consider organizing activities that may interest the younger ones.
